A few weeks ago I saw a young woman walk by our house, wearing a t-shirt with a large face printed on it that, from a distance, looked exactly like her. It was an oversized 80's style t-shirt, with ultra-stylized graphics. I wondered if she bought the shirt because she (literally) saw herself in the image, or if she bought it and has been trying to become the girl on the shirt. Fashion and identity are endlessly fascinating.
